4193 / 4J52 Mount:
On Nov 06, 2011 I purchased a Sylvania type 4193E magnetron from Ebay; I was hoping to get a 200KW X band magnetron to experiment with. In previous attempts I was outbided; but finally I got one. After quickly testing it to verify that it works I decided to construct an experimental mount with its dedicated cathode drive pulse transformer and cooling fan.
4193/4J52 Mount:
13.75 VDC power supply
Set Up:
A view of the experimental set up is shown in the photo below; the details is discussed in the Pulse MOD 3
Cathode Pulse Voltage and Current:
4193E RF Output (movie A , B, and C):
Looking at the photo at the right the 4J52 can be seen RF exciting NE bulbs:

4193E RF pulse envelope about 300 nsec/ 500mv/div
The photo on the right is the magnetron advertised on Ebay; as received after opening the package. I had difficulty finding  any working parameters for this magnetron until I found L-3 Communications Web site. Their version is the L-4193A, K ...

Tunable from 8.5 to 9.6 Ghz;  Peak PWR 200KW;    Duty Cycle 0.001;  Peak Voltage 22KV;  Peak Current 27A
I was not able to find the heater operating voltage.

Other magnetrons of this class operate in the 13 volt range; when I first tested it out I operated the heater  at 11 volts but to me it seemed too bright so I brought the voltage down to about 9 volts where the color seem more correct. The magnetron seems to operate OK at this temperature .
12 VAC heater transformer
The heater voltage is dropped by the resistance of the pulse transformer coil winding and a coil of wire to to drop it further to about 9 volts
PFN INPUT Drive
Pulse Transformer ; has extra ferrite core

60 UF1007 diodes in series damping reversal
HV Probe / cathode voltage
Current transformer / cathode current
PFN
The magnetron cathode is disconnected from the pulse transformer's secondary and replaced with a 1 K ohm resistor for checking out the current transformer calibration
Kilovolts
Amps
Both traces are very close; current probe seems OK
4193E peak voltage and current ; magnetron operating in the parameters given by L-3 data sheet; assume 200KW output
 4J52 replacing the 4193E
4J52 RF pulse envelope about 300 nsec/ 200mv/div
