During early this Fall (2013) I was interrestined in investigationg pulse sharpening sparkgaps based on my early DOS experiments , see "Homemade Diode Opening Switch early notes G" on my home page. The photos shown below is from the selected sub reference notes, of "G", that I reviewed for further investigation.

A new larger 50KV (1 Kohm load) two stage unit is documented in my updated notes; aditionally quenched peaking sparkgap experiments is included as well as microwave production.

I was interrested in repeating the peaking spark gap experiments I did over 10 years ago; especially the effect of adding sparks in series which reminded me of quenched sparkgaps. The two two stage DOS units were repaired early this Fall (2013); photos of both units is shown below:

The recent construction projects and experiments are broken down as follows:
Reference is made to my early notes where I used 400V sparkgap transient voltage suppressors to pulse sharpen the HV output of a DOS unit.
Part Two & Three /
Describes my pulsed microwave experiments where a two stage DOS unit is pulse sharpened using a series of transient voltage suppressors shock excites a 50 ohm extended waveguide.
Describes using my pulsed microwave experiments for observing radar effects where various indoor objects provide echos. At 4 nsec / div I can detect my hand movments of just a few inches.

A new third identical two stage unit is being constructed; the purpose is to hopefully enhance pulse to pulse heighth stability.
